Share your thoughts: Proposed new licensing fees for hatchery and feed establishments – inspection.canada.ca

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has launched a consultation with interested stakeholders to obtain feedback on proposed new licensing fees for hatchery and feed establishments.

The consultation will be open for 30 days, and you are encouraged to share comments by February 11. Feedback received will help inform final amendments.

Innodal’s anti-Listeria processing aid approved by USDA-FSIS – Food In CanadaFood In Canada

Quebec-based food safety solutions provider Innodal receives a No Objection Letter from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (USDA-FSIS) for Inneo, a food processing aid for eliminating Listeria monocytogenes.

This determination allows U.S. meat and poultry processors to use Inneo as a surface treatment and directly mixed into ready-to-eat formulations.

Color Certification Reports | FDA

Color Certification is a Congressionally mandated program for certifiable color additives that are added to foods, drugs, cosmetics, and certain medical devices in the United States. Under this program, the color additive manufacturers provide FDA’s Color Certification Branch, CCB, with a representative sample of each color additive batch. CCB analyzes the color additive sample to ensure that it meets the specifications listed in the Code of Federal Regulations (21 CFR Part 74), which identifies the certifiable color additives. If the sample meets the specifications, CCB provides a certificate for that color additive batch.

Auditors Find EU Countries Do Not Consistently Check Safety, Authenticity of Olive Oil | Food Safety

In a new report, the EU Court of Auditors say food safety control systems for olive oil are “comprehensive but unevenly applied.”

Given the economic importance of the olive oil sector, the Court of Auditors assessed whether the olive oil control framework as required by EU legislation adequately ensures that products are “genuine, safe, and traceable.” The audit included an assessment of the implementation of olive oil controls in four Member States since 2018—Belgium, Greece, Spain, and Italy—specifically, whether these countries conducted the required checks for authenticity, conformity/contamination, and traceability.
