Animal Feed Registration – 2026 renewals
Change to renewal notice process for livestock feed registrations
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is implementing a new process for issuing renewal information for livestock feed registrations. Previously, registrants received renewal information through individual letters sent by email. Beginning January 2026, renewal notices for registered feeds will be issued through My CFIA.

Common Names for Ingredients and Components – inspection.canada.ca
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has amended the Common Names for Ingredients and Components document that is incorporated by reference in the Food and Drug Regulations.
These changes follow comments received during the consultation on Proposed changes to the Common Names for Ingredients and Components document for milk ingredients and modified milk ingredients.

FDA Launches Assessment of BHA, a Common Food Chemical Preservative | FDA
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration launched a comprehensive re-assessment of butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA), a chemical preservative used in food. The review will consider whether BHA is safe under its current conditions of use in food and as a food contact substance, based on the latest scientific information.
FSIS Consumer Complaint Monitoring System (CCMS) Complaints Annual Report | Food Safety and Inspection Service
FSIS has posted the FY24 annual summary of consumer complaints entered into the FSIS Consumer Complaint Monitoring System. Consumer complaints provide data that supports FSIS’ surveillance and response activities, enabling the agency to identify and investigate reports of potentially unsafe food in commerce and evaluate trends over time. The report includes information on how consumers report complaints to FSIS, the types of complaints reported, and complaint outcomes.
FDA Allows Foods with ‘Natural’ Food Dyes to Claim ‘No Artificial Colors’ | Food Safety
With the new change, companies will be able to use the claim “no artificial colors” for products that contain naturally derived added colors (i.e., non-petroleum-based dyes that have been authorized in accordance with the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act).
