Labelling guidance for plant-based alternatives to egg products – inspection.canada.ca
After consulting with industry and consumers, the CFIA is publishing labelling guidance for plant-based alternatives to egg products.
Existing legislation and applicable standards remain unchanged; the new guidance clarifies how these products can be labelled truthfully and without misleading consumers.
This guidance will support industry compliance with federal requirements, foster fair competition, and help consumers make informed food choices that reflect their dietary preferences.
If label changes are required, the food industry will have until January 1, 2030, to fully implement the new guidance, allowing time to transition labels and use existing stocks, as needed.

This harmonizes with the European Union’s (EU’s) binding occupational exposure limit value (OELV).
