FDA Proposes Rule to Modernize Drug Manufacturing Registration | FDA
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued a proposed rule that, if finalized, would create a streamlined registration pathway for distributed manufacturing establishments that operate as a single establishment using a “hub-and-spoke” model. The proposed rule would also clarify registration requirements for certain foreign establishments that manufacture drugs, including active pharmaceutical ingredients, that indirectly enter the U.S. drug supply.
A new study by researchers at Hanyang University suggests that per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances’ (PFAS’) fluorinated carbon chain length plays a significant role in how the compound behaves in the environment and responds to different water treatments and remediation approaches. The findings were published in npj Clean Water.

Thanks to increasing raw material supplies and recently approved natural sources of color, the shift away from synthetic/artificial colors should move at a steady pace for the rest of the decade.

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO)/World Health Organization (WHO) Joint Expert Committee on Food Additives (JECFA) has published the summary and conclusions from its 102nd meeting, held June 9–18, 2026 in Nanjing, China. During the meeting the committee conducted safety evaluations and reviewed specifications for food additives, processing aids, and a previous cargo substance.
