The report is available through an interactive dashboard that will be updated each fiscal year. This annual report provides details on the top recalled consumer product categories and targeted inspection activities related to consumer products and cosmetics that took place during the year.

The Government of Canada would like to inform you of the launch of two new lists to the Substances Search Tool: Assessment Conclusions of Existing Substances (Chemicals and Polymers) and Assessment Conclusions of Existing Substances (Living Organisms). This update is part of ongoing efforts to enhance the transparency of program information related to substances.
Although care has been taken to ensure the accuracy of information contained in this search tool, should any inconsistencies be found, the official versions of the text of the legislation, regulations, instruments, or notices, for example on the Justice website and Canada Gazette publications, prevail.
Canada’s food and beverage manufacturing sector will need to recruit 173,000 new hires between 2026 and 2034, according to a new labour market report by Food Processing Skills Canada (FPSC). Nearly 100,000 of the projected hires by 2034 will be needed to replace workers leaving the labour force, while expansion accounts for 43 per cent of total hiring requirements.
Competition Bureau concerned that grocery deals are being kept from Canadians – Canada.ca
The Competition Bureau has launched an investigation into the use of minimum advertised pricing policies in the grocery sector. These policies, which can be imposed by suppliers or negotiated between suppliers and retailers, set the lowest price at which a retailer can advertise a product. In industries like retail grocery, where a few large companies dominate the retail landscape, these policies can make it harder for retailers, including discount grocers, to offer lower prices and compete for customers.

On August 18-19, 2026, FDA held a public meeting on Listeria monocytogenes prevention. The meeting brought together participants from domestic and foreign government agencies, food and equipment manufacturers and trade groups, consumer groups, standard-setting bodies, physicians, academia and staff from FDA to discuss Listeria prevention strategies. Today, the FDA updated the public meeting webpage with materials shared at the meeting, speaker biographies, and video recordings of the meeting.

FSIS’ National Residue Program Quarterly Report (April – June 2026) and associated datasets are now available on the FSIS website. The report and datasets include residue sampling data for domestic surveillance, inspector-generated, and import sampling programs for the third quarter of fiscal year 2026. The quarterly report summarizes the chemical residue results for the U.S. National Residue Program for meat, poultry, and egg products, helping to ensure a safe food supply.
A consent decree filed in a federal court in Minnesota bars Gold Star Distribution Inc. from distributing food because of persistent insanitary conditions.
The company had been distributing products including food from a facility that the Food and Drug Administration determined to have persistent and severe rodent and pest infestations that put products at potential contamination with filth.
