Competition Bureau moves to block Nortera’s Green Giant, Le Sieur acquisition – Food In CanadaFood In Canada

The Competition Bureau Canada seeks to block Nortera’s proposed acquisition of B&G Foods Canada’s Green Giant and Le Sieur brands, as it is “likely to lead to higher prices, fewer choices and less competition in the wholesale grocery supply chain.”

Modification to the List of Permitted Supplemental Ingredients (caffeine and L-asparagine) – Canada.ca

Health Canada has modified the List of Permitted Supplemental Ingredients to permit 30% juice in certain caffeinated beverages as shown in Table 1. Editorial revisions have also been made to the list, including a change to the French version to correct the unit of measurement for L-asparagine.

ECHA begins work to reduce hazardous substances in vehicles

ECHA will support the European Commission in implementing the chemical safety aspects of the new End-of-Life Vehicles Regulation. The Agency will identify substances of concern in vehicles, prepare restriction proposals for hazardous substances when requested, and assess exemptions to existing prohibitions.

France to end use of railway sleepers treated with creosote

France announced that it will end the placing on the market of railway sleepers treated with creosote (wood treatment use class 3 according to EN Standard 335). The country requested to be removed from the list of Member States where the placing on the market of such railway sleepers is permitted.
